Eligibility Criteria

Every application is measured against a shared set of general requirements. Beyond these, many individual awards carry additional criteria tailored to that fund.

Intended Major: The field of study you plan to pursue.
A strong academic record.
Demonstrated Passion: Real, evident engagement with your chosen field.
Prior Attendance: Having attended Lexington High School, Minuteman High School, or Lexington Christian Academy in Lexington, MA.

For most awards, students submit one general application, and the LSF Committee matches each applicant to every award for which they qualify. Four awards, however, require a direct application — outlined below.

Our Scholarship Funds

Need-Based Undergraduate

We provide financial aid for seniors and current college students with demonstrated financial need. By submitting a general application, you are automatically matched with all relevant scholarship opportunities in this category.

Need-Based Undergraduate (Direct Application)

Certain need-based funds, such as those for STEM students require their own application. Be prepared to provide high school transcripts and focused essays to be eligible for these specific, targeted financial awards.

Need-Based Graduate

Graduate funding is available for Lexington residents and alumni pursuing higher degrees. This award supports your continued academic journey based on your specific financial needs and local ties to the community.

Merit Scholarships

These honors recognize students with stellar academic records, strong citizenship, and a history of community service. Applicants are judged on their high school achievements and their future potential to lead and succeed in their chosen careers.

Open to graduate-level applicants demonstrating financial need.

NEED-BASED UNDERGRADUATE

Emily & Frank Smiddy Scholarship

For LHS and MHS seniors who intend to major in a STEM field.

Submit high school transcript & 2 letters of recommendation
Renewable for 3 more years, if all conditions are met and approved
Include a STEM-focused essay

MERIT-BASED UNDERGRADUATE

Phyllis E. Richardson Scholarship

For seniors planning to enter the field of education.
